So, I want to make a reservation right away that until this moment I was unfamiliar with such equipment, and this is generally the first action camera which I hold in my hands, but I have always been interested in those, it was interesting to hold, to try. Before writing this review, I read quite a few reviews by other authors in order to have at least some idea. Therefore, I will try to make everything as high-quality as possible, and also to speculate whether this camera is needed by “ordinary” people.
I don’t have any special goals and needs for this, I don’t professionally do any extreme sports, but I have always had an interest in such cameras. Since I still lead a rather active lifestyle, I try to go somewhere, and I would like to have something small on hand, to capture it all. At this point, I can hear the proposed option in the form of a smartphone, but this is not quite right.
Now let's talk about the camera itself, alas, it was not possible to find its exact origin, there are suspicions that it is produced by the GearBest store itself, since many links and reviews on it lead to this particular store. Not so long ago, it cost only about $76, but recently they released a new model 5000S, and for some reason the price has risen sharply for this one, I don’t quite understand their train of thought.
Looking ahead, I want to say that this camera is considered a competitor to the popular SJCam 4000, there are many video shooting comparisons where these two cameras compete. The advantage of this instance is considered to be a lower price, as well as the fact that accessories from SJCam 4000 are fully suitable for this camera, and this is really a plus!
In order not to paint a lot, I will give a photo from the box, where its characteristics are indicated:

As you have already noticed, the cameras are in a waterproof box, but that's not all, the equipment of this camera is another plus, here it is pretty good:


In addition to the camera itself, there is a charging cable, a waterproof box, an additional back cover for the box, but no longer waterproof, but through which you can thread the straps, or a strap (it is sold separately in the store:). Two clamps, various mounts, two platforms with double-sided tape, and one platform with straps, but it's not entirely clear why and where these straps are attached. Below I will show a photo of what I managed to collect from this.
Boxing looks pretty normal, immersion in water long time survived without problems. There is a rubber band around the perimeter of the lid to keep water out. The manufacturer claims safe diving to a depth of 30m.




For a long time I thought, why make so many screws in the place where the camera lens is, is it really impossible to make this place solid? But then the thought came to mind that it is possible in case of a fall and damage to the glass of the box, this place can be untwisted and the part replaced ... can someone tell me, was I right?

Another plus of the camera is that it has a WiFi module through which it interfaces with a smartphone via an application (both Android and IOS). Without its full screen, the entire image is displayed on the smartphone screen. When shooting, naturally there are delays when the image is transferred to the screen.
In addition to displaying the image, the application allows you to select the image size, white balance, shooting mode, continuous or in a circle. You can also transfer images and videos to your phone via WiFi. The application also displays the version of the current firmware, which is not updated through it. I did not take screenshots from the application, there is nothing special to consider there.
Now let's finally take a closer look at the camera. In front we have a small monochrome screen that shows information about the remaining recording time or the number of shots, and the recording method: photo / video / loop video, remaining battery power, and the presence of a memory card. There are also 2 lights that notify about the operation of the camera. And a button to switch the photo / video mode.
At the back there is another such indicator, and an iron battery cap, on which its capacity of 1150mAh is written. On top we have another indicator, and a shutter button (start recording). Also on top, as well as on the bottom, there are holes, as I understand it, under which the microphones are located. The camera itself is made of plastic. There is no thread for a tripod, so you have to buy a special frame and platform, which is a minus.


On the right side there is a WiFi power button and an indicator of its inclusion. When this button is pressed for a long time, the image is turned upside down, which makes it possible to use this camera as a recorder. But when power is applied, the camera does not react in any way, so you will have to turn it on manually all the time. On the left is another indicator, a micro USB charging connector, an HDMI output, and a slot for a memory card. The downside is that these holes are not closed in any way, no rubber bands.


When the recording is turned on, a whole disco appears in front of us, the camera LEDs start flashing.

Now a couple of shots of what we managed to assemble from the mounts that came with the kit. But I want to make a reservation right away that the screws have different lengths, and I had to pick them up so that they would spin normally, because some simply didn’t get it.








And here is the strap unknown to us. But the platform from it came in handy, we made a head mount out of it. Taking an elastic band from an unnecessary headlamp, threading it through this area, and sewing on another strap that runs on top of the head (although in some flashlights, this is already present)

Perhaps we got to the most interesting, these are shooting examples. First, let's look at examples, and then we'll talk about it. I post examples of videos in the highest resolution, since with others, the quality of shooting noticeably deteriorates.

After watching the video, one gets the impression: firstly, the camera is too saturated, on the one hand it's good, the sky turns out to be very beautiful, trees, nature, it all comes out saturated. On the other hand, these are not quite natural colors. In the case of the zoo, of course, there were difficult lighting conditions, and either overexposure or underexposure, but still, as for me, the white balance was a little bit off. Well, in conditions of insufficient illumination (evening), noises appear. In general, the video is quite normal.

Since I don’t have other cameras, therefore, personally, there is nothing to compare with.
Also, as I already wrote, a new, improved version of this camera has recently been released, and the store has uploaded comparative shooting examples. How true they are, I don't know. Perhaps everything is cunningly done there, to promote the novelty, or perhaps it's all true.

Conclusions:
Well, having seen enough of all this, I will try to summarize, from beginning to end. Until recently, at such an inexpensive price (now for some reason with a sharp rise in price, perhaps due to the release of a new product), we have a good camera, the advantages of which are: firstly, it is a good set of accessories that are also fully compatible with SJCam 4000. The presence of WiFi, and normal recording quality, as well as the ability to flip the image to use it as a registrar. Of the minuses, I would single out: the lack of a thread for a tripod in the camera itself and plugs for the connectors. High color saturation and noise in the dark, when shooting video.
Is it worth buying such a "toy" for people who do not really need it? Honestly interesting thing, initially I want to play with her more often, over time this interest will fade away. But depending on the saturation of your life, it is worth drawing conclusions, but do you need it? If you often go somewhere, then such an acquisition will not be superfluous, although it is quite possible to do without it.
Of course, now the protagonist among cameras has become a camera from xiaomi, where the recording quality is better, but with the bundle it’s a complete disaster, and this is still unnecessary and not small costs. In connection with the release of its updated version (the review of which was here :) and the division of opinion whether the new model is really better, I decided to write a review. Although I decided to write it a long time ago, but still nothing. The review was ready a long time ago, that's just not published. But still I hope it will be interesting.

So, I want to make a reservation right away that until this moment I was unfamiliar with such equipment, and this is generally the first action camera that I hold in my hands, but I have always been interested in those, it was interesting to hold and try. Before writing this review, I read quite a few reviews by other authors in order to have at least some idea. Therefore, I will try to make everything as high-quality as possible, and also to speculate whether this camera is needed by “ordinary” people. I don’t have any special goals and needs for this, I don’t professionally do any extreme sports, but I have always had an interest in such cameras. Since I still lead a rather active lifestyle, I try to go somewhere, and I would like to have something small on hand, to capture it all. At this point, I can hear the proposed option in the form of a smartphone, but this is not quite right. Of course, you also need to pay money for this “toy”, and almost everyone has a smartphone, but this is everyone’s business. Personally, I couldn’t believe it until the very end, because I won it in the competition.
Now let's talk about the camera itself, alas, it was not possible to find its exact origin, there are suspicions that it is produced by the GearBest store itself, since many links and reviews on it lead to this particular store. Not so long ago, it cost only about $76, but recently they released a new model 5000S, and for some reason the price has risen sharply for this one, I don’t quite understand their train of thought.
Looking ahead, I want to say that this camera is considered a competitor to the popular SJCam 4000, there are many video shooting comparisons where these two cameras compete. The advantage of this instance is considered to be a lower price, as well as the fact that accessories from SJCam 4000 are fully suitable for this camera, and this is really a plus!
In order not to paint a lot, I will give a photo from the box, where its characteristics are indicated:

In addition to the camera itself, there is a charging cable, a waterproof box, an additional back cover for the box, but no longer waterproof, but through which you can thread the straps, or a strap (it is sold separately in the store:). Two clamps, various mounts, two platforms with double-sided tape, and one platform with straps, but it's not entirely clear why and where these straps are attached. Below I will show a photo of what I managed to collect from this.
Boxing looks pretty normal, immersion in water for a long time withstood without problems. There is a rubber band around the perimeter of the lid to keep water out. The manufacturer claims safe diving to a depth of 30m.




For a long time I thought, why make so many screws in the place where the camera lens is, is it really impossible to make this place solid? But then the thought came to mind that it is possible in case of a fall and damage to the glass of the box, this place can be untwisted and the part replaced ... can someone tell me, was I right?

The camera itself is small in size, although it is quite weighty in size.


Another plus of the camera is that it has a WiFi module through which it interfaces with a smartphone via an application (both Android and IOS). In addition to displaying the image, the application allows you to select the image size, white balance, shooting mode, continuous or in a circle. You can also transfer images and videos to your phone via WiFi. The application also displays the version of the current firmware, which is not updated through it. I did not take screenshots from the application, there is nothing special to consider there.
Now let's finally take a closer look at the camera. In front we have a small monochrome screen that shows information about the remaining recording time or the number of shots, and the recording method: photo / video / loop video, remaining battery power, and the presence of a memory card. There are also 2 lights that notify about the operation of the camera. And a button to switch the photo / video mode.
At the back there is another such indicator, and an iron battery cap, on which its capacity of 1150mAh is written. On top we have another indicator, and a shutter button (start recording). Also on top, as well as on the bottom, there are holes, as I understand it, under which the microphones are located. The camera itself is made of plastic. There is no thread for a tripod, so you have to buy a special frame and platform, which is a minus.


On the right side there is a WiFi power button and an indicator of its inclusion. When this button is pressed for a long time, the image is turned upside down, which makes it possible to use this camera as a recorder. But when power is applied, the camera does not react in any way, so you will have to turn it on manually all the time. On the left is another indicator, a micro USB charging connector, an HDMI output, and a slot for a memory card. The downside is that these holes are not closed in any way, no rubber bands.


When the recording is turned on, a whole disco appears in front of us, the camera LEDs start flashing.
