Prague: shopping centers. Shopping in Prague

If you prefer to travel on your own, without agencies, like me, then before you go to Prague and start a tour of the city's sights, you'd better study the metro and the city map itself. This will make it easier to find a hotel or any other place you need. In addition, you will know in advance what to see in the center of Prague and which sights to pay special attention to.

So, the districts of Prague are named quite simply: "Prague 1" - "Prague 22". There is also a division into cadastral lands, but these two divisions do not intersect with each other, so one cadastral land can be located in two regions at the same time.

Prague 1- the most central area of the city. This area is the historical center of Prague, the most expensive hotels, restaurants and boutiques. There are a lot of cars in the area, if your hotel is located here and you plan to rent a car, it is better to find out about parking in advance, because parking is allowed only for indigenous people almost everywhere here.

Of the attractions here are the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Wenceslas Square.

2 - also an expensive area, but less touristy, here you can already find banks, grocery stores, hairdressers. It takes only 7 minutes to walk from Prague 2 to the center. There are a lot of ancient architectural structures and beautiful houses in this area.

Of the attractions here are Peace Square, the Main Station and the Cathedral of St. Ludmila.

3 - a more affordable area, the center is also 7 minutes by metro. There are many bars and clubs here. This is probably the most noteworthy for tourists, because otherwise the area is quite gray.

Landmark: Zizkovskaya TV tower. In fact, there is nothing special in this tower, but living in this area is much cheaper than in 1 and 2.

4 - I would call this place “the area of native Czechs”, since there are very few hotels here, prices are very democratic, and there is nothing special to see, except for Vyshegrad. But there are many beautiful parks. 15 minutes drive to the center.

Prague 5– the area is located near the center, about 5 minutes by transport. In this area, tourists will be interested in the Smichov district, it is located closest to the sights. There are no big problems with parking here, there are many shops, the famous Nový Smíchov shopping center, and housing prices are reasonable.

In Prague 5 there is also a land called Košíre, this is an incredibly clean, green area.

Prague 6- I stayed in this area twice for two reasons: proximity to the center and very beautiful old buildings. Prague 6 is considered the most prestigious area, there is the Russian Embassy, a German school and a lot of parks, one of them is the very famous Podbaba, Sarka.

Other attractions here include the Strahov Monastery, the MHD Museum, and the Břevnov Monastery.

Prague 7- a very picturesque area, far from the center (15 minutes by transport), but the prices here are clearly cheap compared to Prague 1 and Prague 6. There is a huge zoo and botanical garden.

One of the most beautiful parks - Letensky Gardens, is also located in Prague 7. By the way, here is the Troja Castle, which is a must-see.

Prague 8 The area is completely non-tourist. Only one part of it is located near the center - the Karlin district, but the prices here are very high. Other parts of Prague 8 are very cheap, there are a lot of new buildings, nothing beautiful in terms of architecture or history. In the north of the district - with sleeping houses.

Prague 9- an industrial area, far from the center, dirty, only high-rise buildings and roads.

Prague 10- You can still find something suitable for living here. The area is not bad, but almost all parts of it are far from the center. There are no attractions here.

In general, as the number in the name of the area increases, it becomes more interesting for the tourist. Districts 11-22- very calm, with free parking and the almost complete absence of any entertainment places.

Conclusion: the best areas in terms of price and quality are Prague 3 and Prague 4.

Prague consists of 22 administrative units - districts, each of which has its own serial number. Previously, there were 10 of them, and to this day the inhabitants of Prague are limited to them, it is rarely possible to hear, for example, about Prague 17, only if a specific clarification is required. Districts are additionally divided into cadastral parts (micro-districts), which have historically formed, there are 112 of them. The boundaries of districts and cadastres do not coincide, that is, some cadastres belong to two or three neighboring districts.

Viaduct Negrelli

Love for Prague, as a rule, blinds the eyes, and when a person who loves Prague finds strange notes on the website of a real estate company, such as: “an apartment in Prague 7”, he does not understand where it is, at what distance from the center. And it does not even suggest that this city has 22 official districts, only five or six of which are central and contain the grain for which everyone goes to Prague, for which they want to live in it. Fortunately, even before the era of socialism, the Czech government decided not to build high-rise buildings in the historical center of Prague. The grain was presciently saved for future generations and for the future of Prague, which was destined to become one of the most visited tourist capitals in the world. Of course, when it comes to buying real estate in Prague, all preferences are also concentrated in the center: to have windows in a quiet street, and not far from the Old Town Square, and so on. But real estate in the center of Prague is different, and the prices for apartments in the center of Prague are high. And here the main thing is not to make a mistake with the area. Theoretically, the Prague districts, indicated by numbers, are located in a clockwise direction, but in fact, in a city that has developed from the Middle Ages to the present day without a rigid architectural plan, it is impossible to observe such a structure. Therefore, Prague 8 adjoins Prague 1 in a narrow long stretch, and Prague 4 adjoins Prague 10. We will tell you which districts are considered central, which of the real estate objects here are worth seeing, which of the outlying districts are in demand and liquid.

Prague-1

This is the very center of Prague, the golden grain that tourists and wanderers are looking for. And also - the center of the Czech Republic, and even, the absolute truth - the geographical center of Europe. There are three historical quarters here - Stare Mesto, Mala Strana and Hradcany. In Hradcany, on the right high bank of the Vltava, there is the Prague Castle, the presidential palace, the Cathedral of St. Vita, visible from everywhere in Prague. On the left side, in lower town, - Old Town Square, Astronomical Clock, Tyn Cathedral and the famous Wenceslas Square stretches along the boulevard. Department stores of world chains flourish here, offices and offices are traditionally located here, here is a kind of City. Therefore, Prague-1 is certainly the most prestigious place to open a company office, and profitable - for doing business. For life, the center is also, of course, suitable. Although in the center of any city, and even more so - a tourist one, it is always a little noisy and hectic for a normal life. But in Prague-1 in recent times very high-quality apartments appeared in penthouses - renovated according to the latest construction and design ideas, and in reconstructed old houses - adapted to the spoiled tastes of modern people. views of the old city, quite comparable in terms of comfort with living somewhere in London or Vienna, but much more economical.

Prague-2

This is also the center. Quarters - New Place, Vysehrad and Vinohrady - are considered the most prestigious in Prague for life. Their advantage is that they are far enough from tourist routes to make it quiet, peaceful and comfortable to live, but at the same time, the center is within easy reach. The offices of reputable firms also like to settle here - for the same reason. Vysehrad, being on a hill, allows you to admire Prague from any point of the streets, from every balcony and from every window. Vysehrad is a magical place: according to legend, it was in the Vysehrad fortress that Princess Libusha lived, who prophetically exclaimed, pointing to the valley in front of her, that “here she sees a city up to heaven.” In general, Vysehrad has been a strategic fortified area of Prague for many centuries. Now Vyshegrad is built up with profitable houses of the beginning of the last century, in addition, on the outskirts of it, closer to the river, new fashionable residential complexes have been built and are being built with a set of all modern amenities - a reception at the entrance, an underground garage, a garden, which the owners of apartments on the first floor have access to. floors, large verandas, display windows, "smart" equipment ... (see) Another prestigious quarter in Prague-2 is Vinohrady. It starts right behind Wenceslas Square near the Museum metro station and is separated from the tourist and business area by the Main Railway Station (Hlavní Nádraží). This quarter is one of those places where people usually dream of settling "when they get rich." Vinohrady, as well as Vyshegrad, and Novy Mesto are built up mainly with historical brick houses of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. From the very beginning, these houses were built as apartment buildings. Another thing is that in one five-story building there were five apartments. But what were these apartments! Seven or nine rooms, large windows, high ceilings, expensive parquet, lacquered doors... Well-known lawyers and notaries, fashionable doctors and high-ranking officials lived in them. Now these houses are being restored, completely replacing the insides, bringing the layout, equipment, design closer to modern requirements. Buying an apartment in such a house is an extraordinary success. (See "Apartments in the Residence" Vinohrady ")

Prague-3

Prague-3 also belongs to the central districts of Prague. It is known for the Zizkov quarter, which has always been and still is part of Vinohrady. Tourists know Zizkov by the many three-star hotels located there. The location of the district is as advantageous as that of Vinogradov, although a little further from the center. However, for a long time Zizkov was deprived of the attention of Prague residents. Because of this, the houses are shabby in some places, not so respectable audience, but everything is changing. Now many residential and office buildings have been grown and restored in it. Among them are "Palace Flora" - a large shopping center with a multiplex cinema, "Luxembourg Plaza" - a new complex with many shops, offices and the hotel "Marriott Courtyard". Among the interesting residential complexes, the reconstructed house "Prokopov's Residence" with beautiful designer apartments stands out. Not far from - one of the oldest Prague parks - Parukarzhka, arranged on the site of the vineyards and the estate with the same name that were once here. Another beautiful new residential complex has been built right in Parukarzhka.

Prague-4

Prague 4 has a place to live just as popular as Vinohrady, Vysehrad or Nove Mesto. This is Nusle. The area adjacent to Novy Mesto is beautiful and always popular with people who do not want to spend their entire lives with tourists looking at your house and yourself as a landmark of Prague. There is no metro here yet, although city planners already have a new line crossing this area of Prague. Further from the center in Prague 4, panel buildings reign, adjacent to family houses. At the same time, the area is rightly considered one of the greenest and most environmentally friendly places in Prague.

Prague-5

Despite its serial number, Prague-5 is still the center. The so-called “wide center”. Several districts of Prague meet this criterion. "Wide center" is basically former places compact settlement of the aristocracy. Historically, the aristocracy lived on the right bank of the Vltava - in Gradchany, in Malaya Strana, in a word, closer to those in power. Today, one of the favorite places of the Prague bourgeoisie is Smichov - one of the most famous quarters in the Prague-5 district, located on the other side of the river, relative to the city center, adjacent to the Lesser Town. In Smichov, there is simply high-quality, but there is also luxury housing. The public works great here. ground transport, there is a subway. Quarters of new business-class development are also growing here - for example,. Such residential complexes have all modern qualities - excellent layouts, modern equipment, there is a reception and underground garages, security systems. The view of the quarter is very inviting - trees, lawns, villas, and the center of Prague can be reached by public transport in fifteen minutes.

Prague-6

A large area on the right bank of the Vltava, part of which, located closer to Hradcany, is considered fashionable. Diplomatic missions of foreign countries in the Czech Republic live here, wealthy Czechs live here in villas in the areas: Bubenech, Dejvice, Orzhechovka, Streshovice. But in the part of the district remote from the city center, classical sleeping quarters have grown, one of which is distinguished by the name Rzhepy, which is dissonant for the Russian ear.

Prague-7

We continue to move along the right bank of the Vltava. Prague 7 is the "broad center", which is known to every Praguer by the two most famous parks located here - Stromovka and Letna. Letna is a garden with paths, benches and that gigantic metronome, which was placed on the foundation of the largest monument to Stalin in Europe that was here and which is visible even from the other side of the river. Young people traditionally gather in Letná to sit on benches in the lilac bushes, drive along excellent tracks on roller skates or skateboards, hit the ball on the tennis court ... Stromovka is a regular English park. There are paths crunchy with stone chips, benches with images of leaves of different trees growing in the park and signatures about what kind of tree it is, with lakes and bridges, with grilling areas arranged right among the emerald lawns. Adherents of yoga often meditate here in secluded clearings, children feed squirrels and pigeons, parents relax on weekends after the labors of the righteous. Around Letna, as around Hyde Park in London, there are beautiful old brick houses with large apartments, and in the Troy area, closer to Stromovka, there are very beautiful and expensive family villas and another park - Troysky, another palace - Sternberg, where now museum fine arts. Next to the palace is the famous Prague Zoo and Botanical Garden. In Prague-7 there is also a large Exhibition Center, where, in addition to various exhibitions, there is an interesting theater.

Prague-8

Prague-8 seems to have set out to compete with the Vltava and pursues it shoulder to shoulder from the outskirts to the very center along the left bank. On the outskirts, these are the quarters of Kobylisa, more like a sleeping area, and Kletsany. New multi-apartment buildings of modern construction are now being settled in Kletsany - high-quality, comfortable, conducive to a quiet family life(cm. ). From the Palmovka district, a gradual rapprochement with the city center begins. Already there are old brick houses, many of which have been restored and live a new life. Even closer to the center is the Karlin district, which was most affected during the flood of 2002, now it is being actively restored and built up with new comfortable low-rise buildings (see).

Prague-9

It's already a suburb. Prosek, the largest sleeping area in the city, is located here. But to the credit of this district of Prague, in the south of it there are quarters built up with family houses. For example, it is essentially cottage village, built next to the lake in a very beautiful place. If you do not know in advance, it is difficult to guess that such houses are located in Prague. Prague 9 also includes the district of Bechovice, known from a local history point of view due to the peasant uprising of 1848. Now you can buy an apartment there in a modern low-rise building (see). The charm of this area and its complete isolation from the bustle of the city, and at the same time - in excellent infrastructure and transport accessibility. Transport links with the center are established here, by metro you can get to the Old Town Square in twenty minutes.

Prague-10

Oddly enough, but Prague-10 adjoins one of its sides to the center, to the Prague-2 district. In this part of Prague looks like a cozy old European city should look like. Villas, former tenement houses, boulevards and squares with fountains and shops are Vrsovice. Here you can buy newly finished apartments in the attics of these houses - with panoramic views of Prague (See). Behind Vrsovice, moving further away from the center, there is the sleeping area Skalka, which is distinguished by very convenient transport links with the center of Prague. Located even further to the fields and forests of Central Bohemia, Horni Mecholupy and Dolni Mecholupy are built up with family houses and a completely country atmosphere reigns here.

Magnificent Prague attracts tourists not only with the richest architectural and cultural heritage, beauty of medieval streets and squares, majestic cathedrals.
