New Year is a long-awaited and favorite holiday for many. And you always want to make it especially bright and unforgettable. These elegant glasses will perfectly complement the New Year's decor, emphasize the beauty and generosity of the festive table and will always be a reminder of a warm and magical night.

Materials:
glass goblets;
pattern printouts;
ribbons for decor;
contours on glass and ceramics (blue, white mother-of-pearl);
degreaser (acetone, alcohol-containing liquid, nail polish remover).

Working process.
We are preparing printouts of the desired size with a pattern that we will apply. Since I have thin elegant glasses, the pattern was chosen by the appropriate stylized figure of the Christmas tree. The cut out drawing is determined in the place where the pattern will be. You can stick it with tape, fix it on top with a clothespin, but I prefer the easier option to fill the glass with a cloth. Convenient and practical.

1

We degrease the glass and begin to apply a blue outline according to the drawing. Where the lines are thicker, we make the points bigger, and vice versa. The main thing is that the lines do not merge, otherwise the work will look untidy.

2

We fill the entire figure of the Christmas tree with dots. In my drawing, in addition to twigs, there are balls. I mark them with a white outline.

3

Now we paint the base of the legs. To do this, we take the same printout, only smaller. Degrease the surface. We do not fix the drawing, but simply put the glass itself on it and begin to paint the branch in the same way, using part of the pattern.

4

The main part of the work is ready! To add more grace, decorate the base of the glass. You don't need a drawing for this. We degrease and draw a simple long snake line with a white contour. At the ends of the snake, the dots are small, in the center - more. We make such snakes very close to each other, filling the entire space.

5

When the space for the whole snake ends, we continue the drawing along the contour in the same way. Gradually, the pattern changes, and our snakes turn into a thin and elegant mesh, which makes the bottom of the glass interesting. Let the contour dry well.

6

You can additionally add decor: beads, flowers, pendants, snowflakes, etc. I decided to limit myself to modest ribbon bows to match the pattern. Let your holiday be unforgettable!

  • glasses (preferably heat-resistant);
  • acrylic paints on glass or paints based on alkyd resins (pay attention to paints with a glossy sheen and precious metal effect - gold, silver, etc.);
  • brushes with elastic pile (depending on the intended pattern, select the size of the brushes);
  • cotton buds;
  • varnish for acrylic;
  • baking sheet;
  • oven.

Step-by-step instruction:

Use cases

Using the above method as basic technique, you will be able to craft truly incredible items. It all depends on accuracy, imagination and some drawing skills. One of the most romantic options for a wedding, according to the site www .. Such an accessory symbolizes pairing and love. You can apply both a classic image of the newlyweds, and a more modern one, for example, in the form of a caricature. Glasses decorated in this way look interesting for each guest. And for more personalization, write the names of the guests on the glasses.

If you are not good at drawing, decorate the glasses with patterns, hooks and swirls. With proper selection of paint, such images look quite elegant. Glasses can also be decorated with self-adhesive rhinestones. Drawings are a great way to add style to a themed wedding decor. For example, draw peacock feathers for the appropriate holiday, uniforms for military weddings, magical characters for fairytale weddings, and so on.

Ordinary dishes sometimes become too dull. The best way to correct this gloom is to add paint. Sometimes it is not very clear how you can decorate ordinary glass, and even more so dishes. Of course, dishes are a separate and difficult topic. After all, it is the food that we eat that touches it. For example, take wine glasses. No food elements interact with the outside, which means that it is possible to deal with it.
Before starting work, it is necessary to decide which pattern will be applied to the glass. In this master class, lilies act as a drawing. Having printed out the selected drawing of the desired size in advance, it is necessary to prepare all the materials for work. For work you will need: a glass (on which painting will be done), a degreaser (nail polish remover with acetone is allowed), cotton pads (or some other rag that does not leave fibers), a prepared drawing, adhesive tape (transparent or paper), scissors, stained glass contour and paints (in this master class, water-based).

After everything is prepared, you can get to work. Workplace should be comfortable and clean. It is better to have some materials (rags or paper) at hand in order to wipe the leaked tube, remove excess from the dispenser. You can also stock up on either cotton swabs or toothpicks so that you can immediately correct the flaws. And better than both.
The next step will be to fix the pattern on the glass, or rather, in the glass. The image should be fixed from the inside, which is quite logical. You can secure it with tape. Gently in small pieces on top and bottom. It is worth being careful and fixing so that the adhesive tape does not fall into the area of the image itself (in places where paint or contour will be applied).

After the drawing is securely fixed and there is full confidence that it will not fall off and will not move out and crawl, you can proceed to the next step. This step is surface preparation. Sometimes there are labels on new glasses, and simply all surfaces, by definition, have a fatty layer. In connection with these facts, it is necessary to clean and degrease the surface to be treated. As a degreaser, alcohol, acetone, gasoline-galosh can be suitable. Unfortunately, these products are very odorous and are not always available. In this case, nail polish remover with acetone can come off as a degreaser. Every decent girl has it. The surface where the pattern is supposed to be is wiped with a cotton pad or a piece of cloth soaked in a degreaser. After surface treatment, the glass must be conveniently placed in a horizontal position. It is in the horizontal position that the paints spread the least, which prevents uneven filling with color. It is recommended to use a cushion as a substrate, it protects the glass from hard surfaces and minimizes the chance of breaking or scratching the glass. Also, a glass can be tied to a pillow so that it cannot fall from it, but this is already at will and preferences.

The next step is to draw the outline. Due to the fact that the glass has a spherical shape, the image is distorted. Therefore, for a more accurate, correct and beautiful drawing, it is necessary to apply the paint-contour looking at the image strictly perpendicularly, you can also close one eye for greater accuracy. Otherwise, the proportions of the picture will be violated and beauty will not work. Contour paint is most often produced in tubes with a narrow spout. This spout is a "brush". Gently, evenly squeezing out the pasty mass, it is necessary to apply paint along the contour of the pattern on the surface of the glass. You must always ensure that the contour does not have voids and is not interrupted. In case of irregularity and heterogeneity of the contour, color paints may flow beyond its limits. This can greatly ruin the drawing.
If the selected drawing consists of two parts, as in this master class, then the application of paint will take place in two stages. One stage per plane. Having applied the contour of the first plane, leave the glass to dry at room temperature. Drying time depends on the type and manufacturer of contour paint. On its packaging, this time must be indicated. On average, it takes about two hours.

A glass with a contour applied on the first plane.

After the contour on the first plane has dried out, the glass is carefully turned over so that the second plane is perpendicular to the view. Further, by a similar method, a contour is applied to the second plane. If there are more than two planes, then similar actions are performed with each of them in the same sequence.

A glass with a contour applied on the second plane.

After all the contours are thoroughly dry, you can proceed to the next step: filling with color. First you need to put the glass again with the first plane up perpendicular to the gaze. When opening a bottle of paint, be prepared that the paint itself can immediately flow out, even if the spout is up. Do not be afraid, it is best to remove the excess and gently start filling. When filling in the drawing with color, special attention should be paid to the presence of air bubbles. They occur, as a rule, with the first drops or if the tube tip is often torn off the surface. Also, do not forget that all the necessary areas must be filled completely, in every corner, at each contour. Otherwise, it will be of poor quality and ugly. After all the necessary areas on the first plane are filled, the paint must be dried. Drying takes place at room temperature. The time depends on the type and manufacturer of paint, but on average this time is 24 hours. detailed information indicated on the package or on the tubes.
After the first surface is dried, the second plane is filled in a similar way. Other planes, if any, are filled in the same sequence. When all the planes are filled, it is advisable to leave the glasses to dry for some more time. You can make sure the paint is dry by gently lightly moving your finger over the paint. Most importantly, without fanaticism, otherwise ugly fingerprints may remain.

A glass with a pattern filled with color.

After the paint has completely dried, it is necessary to carefully examine the resulting pattern. As a rule, there are always small flaws (a little extra contour, the color has crawled out of the borders). The next step is to correct these same flaws. To do this, you need a tool (in our case, nail polish remover), cotton swabs or cotton pads in tandem with a toothpick. Having applied the liquid to the cotton part - in the case of the disc, also placing a toothpick - carefully and accurately remove the excess. It is necessary to avoid contact with the main drawing, because there is a risk of spoiling it. After removing all the excess, we get a finished glass.

It will take about two to three days to paint one glass. Drying time is key. These glasses will be an unusual decoration for any home. They can also be the most unforgettable gift!

Painted glasses are rarely used in wedding ceremonies, but thanks to this they are now gaining popularity, because paints can create any pattern.

After exclusivity, the main advantage is that such decor cannot be accidentally disturbed, as happens with lace, rhinestones or ribbons. It does not deteriorate, does not fall off the glass, so wine glasses have a long service life.

Depending on the technique of execution, certain paints are used, which differ for each case. When the drawing is done in a mixed style, several types of materials are used.

The main types of paints used in the decoration of the glass:

  1. Acrylic (stained glass) water-based paints, when solidified, acquire a muted glossy sheen, and when undiluted they give a slightly convex pattern. The picture on the glass dries for a long time, firing may be required to fix the result, but this method is dangerous for thin-walled wine glasses.
  2. Solvent, also related to stained glass paints, are based on lacquer compositions, which is why they are more fluid and quickly harden. Therefore, a special solution is required to increase transparency. Pictures look good on glass, especially if the picture does not involve a ribbed surface.
  3. Contour paints are a thick mass placed in a tube with a sharp nose, made specifically for drawing thin lines. To make the drawing convex, the manufacturers created a fairly dense texture. After all, it is used to draw details or contours.

Techniques in which wedding glasses are painted:

  1. Dot or confetti. The selected colors are applied with matches, toothpicks or cotton swabs, depending on the required diameter. At the same time, acrylic paints are used to create a pattern.
  2. Decoration. Depict with the help of brushes thematic motifs. Most often, buds or other plant patterns bloom on glass. This technique of execution will require some experience in drawing and working with glass.
  3. Picture in stained glass style. This design creates a certain pattern with the help of stained glass paints, after drying which a contour is applied depicting lead or gilded bindings. To make the glass look like real cathedral glass, the main paint should be slightly translucent, showing the passage of light rays through the picture. This creates the feeling of a mosaic.

Stained glass paints are often used to create drawings, especially in authentic style. And contour drawings are used to draw sketchy pictures, or individual small details that should protrude above the surface.

How to decorate wedding glasses with your own hands: dot painting on glass

by the most in a simple way, is a point decoration. To create it, you do not need the ability to draw, and it does not take a lot of time and resources.

Materials:

  • acrylic paints;
  • cotton swabs, matches;
  • disposable container, from 2-3 cm in diameter (can be made from foil);
  • cotton pads or tissue paper;
  • alcohol or acetone.

To begin with, the glasses are washed and allowed to dry. After that, the surface is additionally cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. When everything is done, the glass is turned upside down.

This method of preparation will remove all impurities that could violate the future decoration.

Pour the paint of the selected color into a disposable container. Having dipped a cotton swab in the paint, they begin to make dots from the very bottom of the bowl. The distance between them is made approximately the same so that the decoration looks uniform.

After completing the first row, the next one begins, while the pressing force of the stick decreases - this method will give smaller mugs. When this ceases to act, they switch to painting with matches. The higher the dots rise in the glass, the less often they occur.

At the same time, they are placed in a random order. Sometimes they make curls or pyramids.

Points stop putting down 1.5-2 cm to the edge of the glass. This is done to prevent paint particles from entering the mouth.

The leg and stand are most often left clean. But sometimes they make inscriptions on the stand with contour paints of the same shade.

When newlyweds want more variety, glass decorations are made from several colors.

This style of performance can look rough, just like the same mugs, so you need to follow the moderation in.

How to paint wedding glasses with a contour on glass - a master class

Painting glasses for a wedding with a contour on glass is a fairly easy technique. But at the same time, you must try to create points and lines on paper so as not to spoil the workpiece.

For painting you will need:

  • contour paints;
  • masking tape;
  • cotton pads and alcohol;
  • stencil.

Glasses are cleaned and degreased with alcohol or acetone. After preparation, with thin strips of adhesive tape, glue the stencil onto the bowl.

They take a tube with paint of the main color and begin to apply dots along the contour of the stencil. When the figure is completed, the adhesive tape is removed, and the place of gluing is degreased with a cotton swab.

After the glass has dried from alcohol, the border is closed and proceed to the next stage. Sometimes there is a more complex way of execution - drawing a solid line.

When the main figure is completed, they begin to apply dots on the sides of the glass. At the same time, they try to ensure that different colors and sizes of circles are randomly distributed.

The dots gradually become smaller, and large gaps are left between them. At the same time, a clean strip the size of the main pattern is kept at the back. This is done to make the glass look lighter and lighter.

Do-it-yourself painting of wedding glasses with acrylic paints - tips and ideas

Painting is the most difficult way to create a pattern on glasses. This technique is only suitable for people with an acquired skill in drawing.

Materials:

  • 2 plastic plates;
  • 1 plastic cup (for washing);
  • brushes;
  • cotton buds;
  • acrylic paints of the desired colors;
  • cotton pads and degreaser.

Glasses are prepared for drawing and turned upside down. After that, water is poured into a glass, and paints are squeezed onto one of the plates. The second bowl will serve as a stand for wet brushes.

To draw the stamens, cotton swabs are dipped in paint and randomly dotted along the bottom of the glass. In this case, the colors and size of the circles should be slightly different. When the stamens are completed, they are left to dry for 2-3 hours.

Sometimes it is advised to bake paints to finish the job faster, but wedding glasses are fragile and can crack from high temperatures. Therefore, it is better to let the paint dry naturally.

After drying, draw the petals of the plant. They are made with a thick brush, and then the veins and details are drawn. When all small items completed, the glass is again given time to harden.

The last step is to decorate the stem of the glass. She is being covered green paint representing the stem of a plant.

This is the easiest way to create an original glass. But if a person has great experience in drawing, he can make more complex plant drawings on the bowl.

Before you start a step-by-step master class on painting glasses with your own hands, you need to decide on the future design of your wine glasses, so we suggest you get inspired and draw original ideas"glass" decor in the next chapter.

The painting of glasses and wine glasses can be different in terms of the drawing technique, the degree of complexity, the use of materials and, of course, the subject matter.

Master class number 1: Glasses in the style of confetti

Glasses decorated with small peas look very festive and can be as elegant as in the photo below, or cheerful multi-colored. Circles are associated with champagne bubbles or bright confetti.

Difficulty level: very simple.

What you need: acrylic or contour paints on glass and ceramics, regular nail polish (but acrylic paints are much more stable) or a special marker for painting dishes will also work. To degrease wine glasses, prepare nail polish remover, degreaser or alcohol, for drawing - cotton buds, a pencil with an eraser on the end or a small hard synthetic brush, and for correcting the picture - cotton pads and buds.

Painting technique:

  1. Thoroughly wash and degrease the glass with alcohol or other means using cotton pads or a napkin.
  2. Now you can start drawing circles. Squeeze some paint into a small container or just onto foil (paper, file).

Turn the glass over and start dotting from top to bottom, keeping the same interval between them. You can draw dots as in this master class, that is, starting from large to small, gradually increasing the distance between them. Otherwise, the dots can be the same size, different in color, and they can also form a pattern or pattern (point to point or pique technique), as well as slightly overlap each other.

Advice:

  • It is convenient to put large dots with a pencil eraser, and small dots with a brush or a cotton swab with a pointed end as in the photo below (scroll).

  • It is better to maintain a distance of about 2 cm from the edge of the glass to the picture, especially if the paint is toxic.
  • If you draw with contours, then first you need to practice on paper to put small, medium and large dots at the same distance from each other and with the same degree of pressure on the tube.

  1. Now you need to let the paint dry. Drying methods largely depend on the paint, usually the manufacturer indicates the drying time and firing instructions.
  • As a rule, painting acrylic paints or contours require firing if you want to use the glasses often and wash them in the dishwasher. To do this, put the glasses in the oven at a temperature of 150-170 degrees for 30 minutes, and then turn off the oven, and without removing the glasses from it, let them cool naturally;
  • Markers dry in 24 hours and do not need to be fired;

  • Nail polish dries quickly, but the design will not last long, so for decorating gift or wedding glasses that you want to keep as a keepsake, this option is not suitable. But for themed parties better paint can not found.

And here are other ideas for painting glasses with multi-colored polka dots that will decorate any party at a fun party (swipe the photo to the right).

Polka dots of gold, silver, white flowers more suitable for decorating wedding glasses.

By the way, circles can be not only drawn, but also glued. You can buy self-adhesive vinyl paper in the color you want and cut circles out of it using a hole punch or special scissors, and then carefully stick them onto the glass. The photo below shows glasses decorated in this way.

Master class number 2: Artistic painting of glasses

In this master class, we will turn glasses into flowers, because its stem looks so much like a stem, and the bowl looks like a bud.

Difficulty level: average.

What you need: any degreaser, cotton pads and cotton swabs for degreasing and pattern correction. And for drawing, prepare artistic synthetic brushes different sizes, a plastic plate or palette for mixing paints, as well as acrylic paints for glass and ceramics. If you wish, you can supplement the drawing with contour and stained glass paints, markers and glitter.

Drawing technique:

  1. Degrease the surface;
  2. We mix paints on a plate or palette, achieving the desired shades. In order to make the color pastel and delicate, colored paint is mixed with white;
  3. Now we need to draw the stamens: we put dots with a narrow small brush or a cotton swab with a pointed end. The color of the pollen can be black, yellow or orange. In our master class, yellow is used to draw the stamens of a lilac Italian aster and black is used for sunflowers.

Further, the drawing of the flower will be layered, so you need to wait until the drawn stamens dry. You can dry them naturally by leaving them for 2 hours, or bake them in the oven at 150-170 degrees for 15 minutes.

  1. Once the painted pollen dries, you need to draw the petals as shown in the photo below. If desired, draw the details - veins and color nuances. Then you need to let the paint dry (see point 3).

  1. The last step - draw a pedicel and a stalk in green and again we bake our glass flower, but now for 30 minutes - and then the paint from the glass will not “peel off” for a very long time.

Well, that's all, the decor of wedding, gift or holiday glasses is finished.

See the photo below for more interesting ideas murals with floral and plant motifs (scroll).

And here are examples of painting on glass with peacock feathers.

The theme of flora and fauna is also very popular.

Glasses for the festive serving of themed parties can be decorated brightly and funny.

Glasses as a gift or for a wedding can be additionally decorated with rhinestones, feathers, pearls, sparkles, ribbons and other decor.

Other methods and secrets of painting on glass: how to dry a glass with a stained stem and use a stencil or sketch

  • If you want to completely paint over the base of the glass, that is, paint over its bottom from below, then you need to dry it in a suspended state or by carefully placing it on a home-made paper structure and four buttons as in the photo below.

  • Painting on glass is easier to do using a sketch-substrate, drawn by yourself or printed in the right size on a printer. You can also use the pattern on the napkin. The paper with the image must be laid on the bottom of the wine glass, aligned and glued with adhesive tape as shown in the photo.

Stencils will also help in painting on glass with your own hands. For this you need:

  1. Draw them yourself or print a picture from the Internet, and then cut it out with a clerical knife;

  1. Buy ready-made stencils in a craft store, which are very easy to stick and peel off;
