Variety of covers

Passport cover of a real man

Every man will be happy with such an unusual and useful gift. And in order for the passport cover to have an original, but concise design, we need:

  • Sheets of scrapbook paper in brown shades, a set of paper for pastels.
  • Ready-made pictures depicting a retro car and clock.
  • Wooden and pearl beads and semi-beads.
  • Acrylic stamp for the inscription "passport", cut out of brown paper in the form of a leaflet.
  • Transparent cover.

Double-sided tape, a ruler and a pencil, glue and a needle and thread are also useful in work.

Brown pastel paper will be the base. We measure the standard size, focusing on the document itself in expanded form, cut out an even rectangle. Exactly in the middle we draw a vertical line, as if dividing the rectangle in half, gently bend it like a book. From scrap paper we cut out two rectangles, which we will decorate. At the top of one sheet, glue a picture of a retro car. We wrap the sheet in the middle with a rep ribbon, fixing it at the back. We put a stamp on watercolor paper with the inscription "passport", randomly cut it out and process the edges with golden ink. Using a sewing machine or in a simple manual way, we sew a picture, a ribbon and an inscription. We sew a metal pendant to the tape. We apply both parts of scrap paper to the base and carefully sew. Arbitrarily decorate with a leaf cut and beads. Finished work put in a transparent cover.

You can also give a passport cover, it will be a very useful and original handmade gift, as you put love, your kindness and sincerity into such gifts.

So stylish male cover will become the best gift friend, lover and colleague.

Scrapbooking allows us to create essential items that can also be used as a gift or souvenir.

What do you need to work?

  1. Paper-pastel favorite bright shade.
  2. Two sheets of scrap paper sized 20*20 and a third sheet with a random pattern.
  3. Acrylic stamp with a finished inscription.
  4. Picture with a floral motif.
  5. Ink pads (burgundy and black).
  6. Transparent cover.
  7. Figured hole punch for a border.
  8. A piece of rep tape.
  9. Tonal waxed laces.
  10. Lace, metal pendants, beads, buttons.

Creativity is painstaking work, but invariably exciting and interesting:

  • To begin with, we draw the basis on paper, circling the passport in expanded form. Divide in half right down the middle.
  • We are preparing the decoration. Cut out two rectangles from scrap paper.

Ribbons that remain from scrap paper scraps should not be thrown away. Finishing the edges with a figured hole punch, they will harmoniously complement the decor of the cover.

  • On a sheet of plain paper we stamp the inscription "passport", cut it out arbitrarily.
  • We decorate the front side. Glue the floral motif and the inscription, decorate with lace. Wrap in the middle with a rep ribbon, decorate with beads. Each element can be stitched on a sewing machine.
  • We glue the scrap sheet elements to the base and carefully stitch along the edge. You can tie bows with a cord and glue to the front side with a glue gun.

The finished work must be inserted into a transparent cover to prevent paper abrasion and damage the decor.

Master class on creating a cover for a passport with a soft spine

Scrapbooking is an interesting process that will help reveal the talent of a designer. Remember to create with pleasure!

My dear friends, as promised, I post my MK on the cover for the passport. I tried to document all the key points and sincerely hope that all stages of the work will be clear to you. Well, if not, write in the comments, I will not answer any question on the topic;)
Since we have constant power outages at home, the master class had to be filmed on different days in different weather. So don't get mad at different photo backgrounds and light levels. Well, what can I say, let's go!

So, in order to make a cover for a passport, we need:
- ruler
- beer cardboard (I took thin, millimetric)
- paper/cardboard for drawing
- designer cardboard (not smaller than A4)
- scissors
- stationery knife
- double sided tape
- glue moment (I use "moment-crystal")
- cover fabric
- synthetic winterizer
- iron
- model - that is, our passport :)

So, all the materials at hand, we begin to work.

1. First you need to cut out 2 sides of the passport cover from beer cardboard. With the help of a ruler and a pencil, we draw 2 rectangles measuring 9 cm x 13.5 cm on cardboard. Beer cardboard is quite thin and can be cut with scissors - this is an option for those who have not worked with a clerical knife and are afraid of cutting themselves. I recommend cutting with a knife, because. the edge of the cardboard in this case will be more even. We apply the ruler to the drawn line and draw it several times with a knife (without strong pressure) until the cardboard is cut.
If you attach the passport to the cut out piece of cardboard, you will get that the cardboard will protrude from above and below. Since I have a ball order for 3 covers, I cut out 6 cardboard boxes at once:

3. Using a narrow strip of thinner cardboard, we will glue both of our halves of the cover. The distance between the full pieces of cardboard should be approximately 1.5 cm.
We call the model for help and apply it to the cover. If you did everything right, you should have margins at the top, bottom, and edge of the cover. In this case, the spine should not crawl onto the second half of the cover. Look at the picture and evaluate your result:

4. Fold the cover by folding it in the middle. Here are the books you get:

5. Now we need to attach a synthetic winterizer to the cover. This step may be omitted if you originally bought cardboard with a glued soft layer. I haven’t seen one for sale here and I don’t even know what it’s called correctly, so I do it the way I do it.
On the front of the cover I attach a few pieces of double-sided tape:

6. I put a synthetic winterizer on top and cut it to the size of the cover so that it does not go beyond the edges. It turns out here is such a fluffy. We just have to cut the protruding pieces of synthetic winterizer:

7. Now cut off a piece of fabric for the cover. The piece of fabric should be larger than the cover itself and I recommend stepping back from the edges by 3 cm to the hem.
I recommend doing all this on an ironing board, because. soon we will need an iron.
We carefully iron the cut piece of fabric, put it with the wrong side up and apply the cover so that it is placed just in the center. We bend the edges of the fabric and glue them to the inside of the cover using double-sided tape:

8. Smooth the corner:

9. Then we turn the corner:

10. And glue on double-sided tape. This is what our corner looks like from the inside:

NB! First, we bend and glue the fabric on the left and right sides of the cover, smooth the corners, then glue the tape on top and bottom of the cover, tuck the corners and glue. Why? Because it will turn out smoother and it will be easier for you to assess where you pulled the fabric, which means it’s easier to fix the defect.

11. And this is how our corner looks beautiful on the front side of the cover:

NB! When you tuck the fabric on the left and right sides of the cover, watch the tension of the fabric. If the fabric is pulled too tight, the cover will not close tightly.

12. This is what our cover looks like after we finished the witchcraft with the fabric. It's time to pick up the paper - to bring to mind the inside of the cover and make sure that we can put our precious passport there so that, God forbid, it does not fall out:

13. We apply a sheet of paper to the cover so that there are indents from the edges by about 5 mm .:

14. We make marks on paper with a pencil, cut it out. It should turn out like this:

15. Bend the sheet in half. Now on reverse side sheet at the corners we mark with a pencil "strokes" at a distance of 3-4 cm from the corner of the sheet.

16. We apply a corner with marks to the paper, as shown in the figure, circle with a pencil:

17. Cut out with indents up to 1 cm:

18. We bend and get such a corner that will hold our cover.

A passport is one of those things that we practically never part with. It should always be at hand. Of course, all this is not in the best way affects his appearance. A year or two after receiving it, it is most often already quite shabby. A passport cover helps a lot to avoid this. You can buy it in a store, or you can make a passport cover with your own hands - beautiful, soft and durable - time will not be scary in such a document, and the pages will never wrinkle!

Materials and tools for making a passport cover:

  • thick cotton for cover
  • cardboard or thick paper
  • scrapbooking paper
  • button
  • elastic
  • scissors, clerical glue and second
  • sewing machine and iron

We sew a cover for a passport with our own hands

We cut out three rectangles from thick paper or cardboard - one measuring 20 cm by 13.5 cm, and two 5 cm by 13.5 cm. We make rectangles slightly smaller from scrapbooking paper - 13 cm by 19.5 cm and 4.5 cm by 13 cm.

Using stationery glue, glue the cardboard rectangles onto the fleece and cut it out clearly along the contour.

We put the parts duplicated with fleece on thick cotton for the cover and cut out rectangles from it with small indents from the edges of the cardboard parts.

We take a large rectangle, bend it and glue the long sides first.

Then we glue the corners, as in the photo.

And glue the short sides.

We do the same with small rectangles.

Now we sew a button on the front side of the cover in the middle of one of the short sides.

On the opposite short side, with the help of a drop of second glue, we fix the elastic band.

Glue a rectangle of scrapbooking paper on top, face up.

We also make small rectangles.

Now we lay a line on a typewriter along one of the long sides of small rectangular parts.

The last step remains - put together the whole structure.

And we sew the entire perimeter.

Cover is ready! Can be folded in half and tried on for a passport!

Today's master class is dedicated to the topic of how to make a unique and inimitable passport cover from fabric with your own hands.

Tools and materials Time: 1 hour Difficulty: 3/10

  • two pieces of fabric 21x15 cm - for the inside and outside of the cover;
  • two pieces of fabric 8x15 cm - for inside pockets;
  • two pieces of cushioning material 21x15 cm;
  • starch spray for fabric;
  • pins;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine and iron.

You can buy a cover in a store, or you can make it with your own hands - beautiful, soft, but durable - such pages of the passport will never be wrinkled and appearance Nothing threatens an important document! Bright fabric passport cover is designed for those who like to stand out!

Step-by-step description of the master class

If all materials are selected, you can start sewing.

Step 1: material selection

The fabric for the outside should be chosen denser - ideally dense cotton. The same applies to the filler - this is the only way the passport cover will keep its shape well, and therefore protect it. Fabric color - according to your desire. Here, for example, is a possible design option for the outer side of the cover:

This is how it can be framed inside:

The choice is yours!

And we have chosen such materials.

Step 2: Preparing the Fabric

Carefully iron the fabric for the cover. If there is a starch spray, then we process the fabric with it before ironing. So the fabric will be less dirty and wrinkle less when used.

Step 3: fabric+fleece

We take the fabric for the front side. We apply one layer of cushioning material to its wrong side with the adhesive side inward, another one on top. Two layers of padding will provide the cover with the necessary rigidity.

Adhesive fabric or interlining can be used as a cushioning material.

If the cushioning material is without an adhesive layer, you will have to stick it to the fabric using double-sided tape. If the adhesive layer is present - fine, just iron it with an iron to stick it to the surface of the fabric.

We carefully align with scissors so that nothing sticks out along the edges of our “sandwich”.

Step 4: pockets

We bend

Take two pieces of fabric for pockets. On each we bend the fabric along the length by 1.5 cm - only on one side! We iron the fold with an iron.

Bend the folded edge again. This will prevent shedding of the tissue during subsequent manipulations. We iron again.

We flash

Lay a seam along the lined side at a distance of 3-4 mm from the edge.

Try to keep the seam as even as possible.

Step 5: fabric for the inside + pockets

We apply pockets to the front side of the fabric for the inside of the cover. Fasten with pins to keep them in place.

Sew pockets to the base ( along three sides!). The distance from the edge is as small as possible.

Step 6: Assembling the Cover Details

Fold the pieces right sides inward. We lay a line around the perimeter of the parts. In any place, we leave an unstitched part of the side - in order to turn it on the front side after. Lay another line along the first seam at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge.

We cut the corners, you can overcast the edges (the latter is not necessary, if desired).

We turn it out, an ordinary pencil will help to gently straighten it.

To make the simplest cover, you will need a piece of soft leather, scissors, a ruler and a pencil, sewing machine and threads. First, draw a cover pattern on the wrong side: a large rectangle slightly over size an open passport and two narrow ones (about 5 cm wide each) at the edges. Cut out the cover piece, fold along the marked lines, and sew at the top and bottom. Ready!

2. Simple fabric passport cover

Build a pattern. Cut out 2 identical fabric pieces. It is better to strengthen at least one layer of fabric for such a cover with adhesive interlining or dublerin. Sew the details, leaving a hole, cut the corners, turn inside out, iron and sew on the pockets, while stitching the cover.

3. Thick leather passport covers with stickers

For such covers you need thick dense leather. The fold on the skin of this thickness may not look very neat, so it is better to cut out three separate parts. Before sewing them together, glue the narrow rectangles to the large one with thin double-sided tape. To make the seam even, with the same stitches, you can use a gear roller wheel and not too big a step, and then punch holes at the marked points with a special device or an awl. Then - flash the cover using a thick needle and thick threads. At the end of the work, you can add stickers.

4. Cover for a passport in 5 minutes without a needle and thread

The easiest option is not to take on a needle and thread at all, but to cut out a cover detail from a suitable material and glue it with strong glue (for example, superglue).
