Nursery rhymes
Chick-chick-chick!
Chicks! There is some water in a tub.
Who's afraid of me
I won't give him any water.
Here are the chickens running -
They are not afraid of Natka.
Near the tub there is a saucer -
They will all get drunk.
Little hen, where did you go?
To the river.
Little chicken, why did you go?
For some water.
Little hen, why do you need some water?
To feed the chickens,
Little hen, How do chickens ask for a drink?
Pee-pee-pee, pee-pee-pee!
Cockerel, cockerel,
golden comb,
Butter head,
Silk beard!
That you get up early
Don't you let the kids sleep?
You geese, geese,
Red paws!
Where have you been? What have you heard?
Where did you see Vanya’s mother?
And Vanyushin’s mother
Walking in the field
Collects flowers
Vanyusha curls a wreath for his own.
Chicks, chicks, chicks!
A goose rides on a stick
Duck on a pipe
Chicken on a chick,
Bunny on a wheelbarrow
Boy on a dog.
Oh, you little owl,
You're a big head!
You were sitting on a tree
You turned your head
She fell into the grass,
She rolled into a hole!
Here's an owl-owl -
Big head
Sitting on a tree
He turns his head.
Looks in all directions
And he says to everyone: -
Nobody hits the owl
And he doesn’t pull your ears.
You geese, geese,
Red paws!
Where have you been
What did you see?
We saw a wolf:
The wolf carried away the gosling,
Yes the best
Yes, the most!
You geese, geese,
Red paws!
You pinch the wolf -
Save the gosling!
The night has come
Brought darkness;
The cockerel dozed off
The cricket began to sing.
It's too late, son,
Lie down on your side
Bye-bye, go to sleep...
Our ducks in the morning -
Quack-quack-quack! Quack-quack-quack!
Our geese by the pond -
Ha-ha-ha! Ha-ha-ha!
And the turkey in the middle of the yard -
Ball-ball-ball! Bullshit!
A swan floats along the river,
Above the bank the little head is carried,
He waves his white wing,
He shakes water onto the flowers.
Bullfinches.
On the courtyard by the door.
I poured over the threshold
Buckwheat, seeds, cottage cheese.
And when I went out to sit,
Then I heard from them: -
You are kinder than all the guys
And faster, Grisha!
POETRY
Birdie
Fun in the wild
Little bird to fly,
Above the flowers in the field
Sing songs;
And on a flexible branch,
In the forest twilight,
Children are waiting for the songbird
In the native nest.

Nightingale
(excerpt)
On a hill, through a green grove,
At the shine of a bright stream,
Under the roof of a quiet May night,
In the distance I hear a nightingale.
In the light, fragrant winds
Now it whistles, now it rings,
Then we drown out the noise of water,
It languishes with a sweet sigh.

Tick-tweet!
It's already warm. And sometimes
A noisy scream is heard from the garden.
Then there are sparrows in a crowd
They shout on the branches: “Chick-chirp!”
The birds are happy from the clouds
The sun will appear for them for a moment;
They meet this ray
With a cheerful cry: chik-chirk!
That ray whispers to them that the earth
Everything will soon become like a flower garden,
Drown in the green fields...
And louder you can hear: chirp-tweet!

Sparrow wanted to swing
Our little sparrow swings
wanted
On a visit to a thin blade of grass
arrived,
Sat on the very top -
qin-tsvirin:
“Rock me, little epic,
throw it up!.."
A blade of grass sways in the wind.
Oh how the sun shines brightly
in the morning!
Oh, how fun it is when in the world
May!
You are a sparrow, a blade of grass,
shake it!

spotted woodpecker
And from the top - knock-knock-knock,
The sound of a woodpecker is heard.
He hammers the bark with his beak,
Looking for food in it for the table.
Let's come closer to him.
Just don’t shout: “I don’t see!” -
This will scare away the bird
And then you won’t find it.
This is the woodpecker in front of us.
He's busy again with business.
Hollows all his hollow -
The bird will be warm there.
The bird has a strong beak,
They are a master craftsman to work with.
We just hear her knocking -
Knock-knock-knock and knock-knock-knock.
Jay
We will enter the forest from the edge,
We will find many miracles there.
She shouted brightly from the branch
For us, the mistress of the forest is the jay.
Lark
In the sun the dark forest glowed,
In the valley thin steam whitens,
And he sang an early song
In the azure the lark is ringing.
Sings, sparkling in the sun:
Spring has come to us young,
Here I am singing the inauguration of spring!..

For the curious
Birds
Birds probably evolved from reptiles and, like them, lay hard-shelled eggs. The scales of reptiles turned into feathers, and the forelimbs into wings.
Birds have one significant advantage over reptiles. The body temperature of reptiles changes along with the air temperature, and in order to stock up on heat, they are forced to bask in the sun. Birds, like mammals, are warm-blooded, that is, their bodies maintain a constant temperature, regardless of air temperature.
The initial plumage in birds was formed formaintaining heat in the body. And only later did the wings begin to serve flight.
feathered birds
All modern birds can be divided into 27 orders, although there is no generally accepted system in the field of bird classification, and the approaches of different researchers often do not coincide. The smallest order has only one species - the ostrich.
The most numerous order of passerines(Passeriformes), it contains over 5,100 species. Among them are birds such as sparrows, warblers, starlings, finches, crows, blackbirds, swallows, cardinals, etc.
Other orders include rheas, penguins, loons, grebes, albatrosses, pelicans, ducks, birds of prey, owls, game birds, cranes, herons, snipes, gulls, pigeons, parrots, swifts, kingfishers and woodpeckers.
Birds are an extremely prosperous class of animals. Apart from bats, birds are the only vertebrates that can fly. At the same time, birds managed to adapt to life in a variety of conditions and eat a variety of foods.
Their success in the struggle for existence is associated both with the ability to fly and with the ability of their body to change following changes in external conditions - to adapt.
Where do which birds live?
Ostriches - in Africa; Laughing Kingfisher - in Australia; pintail duck - in Europe and North America; crossbill - in Europe, Asia and North America.
Food, beaks and paws
How birds have adapted in the process of evolution is most clearly seen in the structure of their beaks and paws. For example, meat-eating birds usually have a hooked beak, suitable fortearing raw meat, and sharp claws on the paws to grab the victim.
Birds of prey, depending on their size and habitat, can feed on everything from insects and small mammals tosquirrels and monkeys. Some predators are very picky eaters. Thus, the secretary bird catches only snakes and lizards, and the osprey feeds exclusively on fish. This group also includes vultures that eat carrion. Many vultures have a bare neck, which is convenient for birds, which stick their head between the bones of the skeleton of a dead animal.
Waterfowl are typically equipped with webbed feet; penguins use their wings to“flying” under water, they simply grab the fish, chasing it.
The common kingfisher, heron or cormorant use their long sharp beaks as harpoons. The puffin can pull out up to 30 small fish in its amazing beak. The pelican catches fish by plunging its huge, scoop-like beak into the water like a net.
Insects can be found in countless quantities almost everywhere, which is why many species of birds feed on them. Flycatchers, larks, pipits, thrushes, and warblers look for insects from cracks in the bark. Woodcocks and hoopoes find worms in the ground.
The woodpecker drills holes in the bark of a tree and looks for insects with a surprisingly long tongue, the end of which is lined with sharp spines. Swallows, swifts, nightjars and other birds grab insects in flight.
Cranes, herons, coots, and snipes have long legs with widely spaced toes. Thanks to their long beaks, they can search for small animals in mud, sand or shallow water. A herring gull smashes mussel shells into pieces, throwing them from a height onto the rocks.
Woodpecker tree finches extract beetle larvae from dead trees using a cactus needle.
Many insectivorous birds also eat seeds and fruits. For example, tits, starlings, blackbirds, crows and gulls are omnivores, and the Australian laughing kingfisher is said to eat everything it comes across. He kills the caught snake by throwing it down from a height.
Other bird species are herbivores. Ducks use their wide, flat beaks to collect grass and aquatic plants.
Short-nosed finches primarily eat plant seeds.
The beak of the crossbill is well adapted to extracting mature seeds from the cones of coniferous trees.
Parrots eat a variety of tropical fruits and seeds. A slightly curved beak and an extremely mobile tongue help them get food.
Reproduction
Unlike reptiles, birds hatch their eggs and care for their offspring. The mating season often begins with an elaborate courtship ritual during which the male and female appear to introduce themselves to each other. The purpose of this strange-looking behavior is to confirm that both partners belong to the same species and are ready to mate.
Most birds lay their eggs in nests, sometimes just holes in the ground or structures in trees or bushes.
The chicks hatched from the eggs are cared for by either one or both parents. Some chicks can run and feed themselves within a few hours or days after emerging from the egg. Others are born blind and naked or sparsely pubescent. They have to stay in the nest for several weeks and even months.
Skilled builders
Weavers are small passerine birds. Most of them feed on seeds. Some species of weavers have become famous as skilled builders. With their beaks and paws, they weave a nest from plant fibers in the form of a hanging hollow ball with a cylindrical narrow entrance.
Colonial weaver species build a very large nest of reeds that holds several dozen or even hundreds of eggs.
Robber Cuckoo
European cuckoos (and several other species) lay eggs in other people's nests. The cuckoo throws its eggs into the nests of small birds in the absence of their owners. The cuckoo hatched from the egg, although naked and blind, throws out the eggs or chicks of the host birds that have already been born from the nest. After this, all the attention of the foster parents is focused on the cuckoo, which they continue to feed until it grows larger than them.
The adoptive parents are unlikely to ever find out that this huge chick is an impostor.

Oral folk art has always been developed in Russia. There is probably no topic for which we do not have a good saying or proverb. There are thousands of sayings about birds, for example. Many of them are able to surprise listeners with their genuine wisdom and beauty. And it is these pearls of folk art that we will talk about below.
The amazing language of metaphors
Quite often, proverbs and sayings about birds try to convey to their audience some hidden meaning. This could be friendly advice, teaching or a lesson hidden behind a beautiful metaphorical image. Moreover, such a message can touch on both quite ordinary topics and high moral principles.
For example, here are the following sayings and proverbs about birds:
- “Birds are not praised for their feathers and wings.”
- “Even a dove will peck out a crow’s eye in its nest.”
- “Every sandpiper is an expert at praising his swamp.”
- “A good bird is always a craftsman in her nest.”
- “Even a goose can’t trample a field alone.”
- “Not even a dove will fly to a bad person.”
Proverbs about birds based on observation
The Slavs loved nature and observed it. Over the years, this bore fruit - they learned to understand the world around them. Our ancestors knew that, despite all the vagaries, nature adheres to certain laws. For example, if we talk about the world of birds, then the return of ducks home indicated that the long-awaited warmth would soon come.
Therefore, it is not surprising that many proverbs about birds are a reflection of observations of wildlife. For example:
- “Swans fly to the snow, and geese to the rain.”
- “Even a little bird in its nest is brave.”
- “No matter how high the crane flies, it doesn’t fly far from the water.”
- “Swallows fly low - there will be rain.”
- “The hawk catches its prey, but the kite takes it away.”
Comparison proverbs
And yet most proverbs and sayings are built on the principle of comparison. That is, certain human traits are compared with their counterparts in the feathered kingdom. This way of presenting information allows us to draw attention to certain moral and spiritual problems that often arise in people. The following proverbs about birds can serve as clear proof of this:
- “A bird needs its wings, but a man needs his mind.”
- “You recognize a hawk by its flight, and a trickster by its gait.”
- “A bird is deceived by sweet food, and a person is deceived by sweet speeches.”
- “Even a sparrow doesn’t walk around wearing only feathers all its life.”
- “He looks like a noble eagle, but with a mind like a forest grouse.”
- “Even though you have the breast of a swan, you have the gait of a peacock.”

Expanding our horizons...
Summer is a time of worries and worries for birds and animals. The cubs born in spring grow up: fox cubs, wolf cubs, elk calves, deer calves. Many birds have chicks at the very beginning of summer, and parents have to work hard to feed them. Only the cuckoo does not know maternal cares and worries: her children are raised by other birds, in whose nests she lays her eggs. In all other respects, the behavior of the cuckoo is impeccable: it destroys many harmful insects, especially the hairy caterpillars of various silkworms, which are almost never eaten by other birds.
By autumn, the number of insects decreases and it becomes colder. Many birds gather in flocks before a long journey to warm countries. The first to fly away from us are swifts, swallows and nightingales.
In winter, many animals and birds are very hungry; for them you can set up a table in the garden or a feeder near the window and put crumbs of bread, seeds, grain there every day, and for tits - a small piece of lard. Birds will gradually begin to fly to the feeders. The sparrows will arrive first, followed by the yellow-breasted tit, then the second, third. Tits will look for seeds, deftly pick them up and fly off to the branches of a neighboring tree to feast on delicious sunflowers. Then the titmice will become bolder and will peck the seeds right on the dining table.
A forest without birds and birds cannot live without a forest.
The bird knows that it is no good without a homeland.
Every bird is proud of its feather.
Every bird sings in its own way.
Every bird is fed with its beak.
Each bird has its own habits.
