Machine Unimat Super 4

The patented longitudinal milling technology allows 4-sided machining even on 3-spindle machines with a feed speed of 24 m/min and obtain ideal surfaces for gluing. The machine is equipped with a combined tool on the upper spindle, which provides the necessary perpendicularity and parallelism of the surfaces, and due to the grooved guides, the unit copes with both oblique and short workpieces. The Unimat Super 4 is compact and ideal for integration into production lines.

Longitudinal milling Unimat Super 4 allows four-sided machining even on three-spindle machines, at a feed rate of 24 m/min. and obtain surfaces suitable for gluing. The combination tool on the top spindle ensures the necessary parallelism and squareness of the surfaces. With the help of grooved guides, the machine processes short workpieces, as well as workpieces with oblique cuts. Unimat Super 4 is well suited for the production of laths for glued boards.

The Unimat Super 4 is compact and requires little space. It is advisable to place the Unimat Super 4 longitudinal milling machine in front of the size press.

UNIMAT logo

Innovations in the field of electric heating are being introduced everywhere. And along with the ones we wrote about earlier, a brand like Unimat appeared, working on carbon rods, and promising at least 20 years of continuous operation. But, as they say, it was smooth on paper... Let's see if the Unimat warm floor is so reliable and whether it is worth making a choice in its favor.

Operating principle

In we already wrote how a semiconductor can change resistance depending on temperature environment. Unimat underfloor heating uses the same principle, but instead of a cable, parallel carbon rods are used, connected to a “ladder” with an appropriate cable.

Unimat in turn

Thus, it turns out that the colder parts of the room (for example, near the entrance or window) consume more electricity, while the warmer ones, on the contrary, consume a minimum or do not heat up at all. The economic effect of such a reasonable use is very large and can significantly save on electric heating.

Positive aspects of Unimat

  1. Ease of installation. Floors are mounted in a screed or directly under the tiles without any problems - just read the instructions
  2. High level of efficiency - provided by self-regulation of carbon rods
  3. The ability to flexibly configure on / off modes (although this plus applies more to thermostats)
  4. The distance between the rods can be changed at will, depending on the geometry of the room
  5. Not afraid of overheating - carbon rods that are warm simply will not turn on, so overheating is impossible
  6. Even distribution of heat throughout the floor

Disadvantages identified during operation

During the operation of Unimat warm floors, very serious shortcomings were revealed, which managers, sellers and the manufacturer try not to talk about, talking about the super-reliability of their product, about a 20-year warranty, etc.

  • After installing the warmest floor, you, of course, check whether it heats up or not by plugging it into the network. But after pouring the screed, you will have to wait at least 28 days before turning it on for the first time. The term is very significant if you made repairs in late summer / early autumn
  • It is unrealistic to use Unimat as the main heating in conditions of 30 degrees below zero - the power of the heating elements is too low.
  • Contacts with carbon rods. This is the main drawback of the entire system and it is here that the main negative feedback from customers lies.

Here, contact with the carbon rod is usually lost.

The fact is that each rod is connected to a conductive wire using a protruding spike that goes inside the rod itself to a depth of only 3 mm. This is very little for reliable contact.

If you lay (on the manufacturer's advice, by the way) a thermal mat directly under the tile, and at the same time use (again on the manufacturer's advice) a heat-insulating coating 2-3 mm thick, then the tile under your feet will move a little during operation. This may not be noticeable to you, but it is quite enough that poor-quality contact between the carbon rod and the copper shield first becomes unreliable, and then completely disappears.

Many buyers, after "opening" Unimat warm floors, found a lot of burnt contacts.

When it comes to the bathroom, the number of dissatisfied buyers here goes off scale! Moisture that gets on the same contacts simply “kills” the floors in a year or two of use.

20 year guarantee… Even if you can prove that the floors were laid according to the instructions, and even qualified specialist, then in return they will provide you with exactly the same Unimat warm floor, with the words that this one is certainly without factory defects. And there are two troubles:

  1. Bad contacts are not a factory defect, this is a design feature of the model, so you will get exactly the same low-quality floor
  2. No one will reimburse you for the cost of the screed, tiles and your nerves

What to do?

There are plenty of other offerings on the market, including those from Caleo, the Unimat manufacturer, that are more reliable and simpler in design, without losing the functionality and benefits of this unfortunate model. For example Unimat Cord.

Self-regulating heating cable from other manufacturers can also be used. It will act no worse, but it will last much longer.
